IVF Cost at North Cyprus IVF Centre, Cyprus – great information

Below is the response to my IVF letter from Ahmet Ozyigit, the IVF Coordinator at North Cyprus IVF Centre. The response is thorough and clear, really good information.

If you would like to contact the clinic directly their contact details are:

Phone: +90 392 227 9342 /  +90 548 882 8000

Fax: +90 392 228 7833

E-mail: info@northcyprusivf.net

Here is the response they sent:

1. What is the current success rate for your clinic? (preferably by age as I know that the success rate will be much lower for somebody of my age) IVF success is like a multi variable equation. Age by itself makes up for only one variable and there are many other factors such as the female patient’s hormone profile, the male patient’s semen characteristics, uterine conditions and many more. However, assuming that there are no major problems with most of these factors, in other words, holding everything constant, treating age as the only variable, IVF success in the 40-44 age bracket is around 19%. However, our clinic’s cytoplasmic transfer procedure has contributed greatly to our success rates with patients in your age bracket. Although this is a relatively new procedure and we would like to have more than 200 cycles before publishing statistics, I can say that cytoplasmic transfer has a success around 24% in this age bracket.

2. How many cycles do you perform per year at the clinic? We perform around 550 cycles per year.

3. What is the maximum age that you treat? We treat up to 50 years of age.

4. Are there any fertility conditions that you will not treat? Not specifically. However, we have a very thorough screening and testing process before we make an assessment of your unique fertility needs and requirements. If we believe that there are no prospects for success with a certain treatment, then we will recommend against it and will not assist with such a treatment (For instance, a menopausal patient requesting treatment with own eggs will not be treated as the outcome is more than likely to be a failure).

5. What is your embryo transfer policy? How many embryos will you replace at one time? We are able to transfer up to three (3) embryos legally.

6. What is the basic cost of the IVF treatment? IVF + ICSI treatment costs 2,250 Euros for the treatment itself. Other treatments will have different cost of treatment. For instance, IVF with Cytoplasmic Transfer costs 5,000 Euros but it involves using an egg donor since we will need to use the cytoplasm from a young and fertile egg donor to provide the patient’s genetic material a more friendly environment to grow.

7. What additional costs would / could be incurred? Additional cost of treatment will include a)medication b)flights c)accommodation d)pre-testing prior to treatment. Cost of medication depends on what dose of medication is administered, which medication protocol is used and where the medication is obtained. Pre-testing involves hormone testing, semen analysis, and any other testing that is seen fit by our IVF specialists before we can make an assessment and decide on further course of action with your treatment. It is important that you are thoroughly investigated before treatment so that we can maximize the chances of success with your first attempt and reduce the likelihood of needing another testing and treatment process.

8. What happens to the costs if the cycle has to be abandoned? We do not require any payment if a cycle is abandoned before you travel to Cyprus for your treatment. We can organize so that your preliminary work is done locally under our guidance and you can come to Cyprus for less than a week to finalize your treatment. If your initial screening indicates that we are not receiving desired response with your ovarian stimulation, then we can cancel the cycle. That way, you don’t have to travel to Cyprus and you don’t make any payments to our clinic. We do offer risk-free treatments in this sense. However, if you arrive in Cyprus, all the procedures are performed and for some reason there are no embryos to transfer, then the cycle will be canceled, however, we will ask for a payment for the work that has been done up to that point.

9. How long would I need to be in Cyprus for? You are likely to stay in Cyprus for 5/6 days. You will also have the option of coming here for the entire treatment if it is more convenient for you to have it all done at one place. This will require you to stay for 21 days.

10. Who deals with the logistics of flights and accommodation? We do not deal with flight bookings, however, we do assist with accommodation. Our patients can stay at discounted rates at a number of collaborating hotels in Cyprus. We also offer complimentary transfers to and from Ercan and Larnaca Airports for all our patients.

11. How is the pre-treatment carried out? We do collaborate with a number of doctors, testing centers and pharmacies in Europe and the USA. That way, we can have your initial testing and screening performed locally. Once we receive your test results and other related documents, our specialists can make an assessment of your fertility treatment needs and we can organize your treatment protocol accordingly.

12. How do I get medication? We work with an international pharmacy in the UK which delivers worldwide. Therefore, if your local monitoring doctor is not willing to accept international orders, then we can organize your medication delivery through the UK pharmacy.

13. How will I be monitored? Your treatment calendar will let you know exactly what needs to be done on a daily basis and how many times you will need a scan. If you do not have your own gynecologist who can monitor the ovarian stimulation stage, then we will recommend a name depending on your location. The places that we work with are able to perform scans and required tests and they communicate results within the same day, so we are kept up to date with everything related to your initial monitoring.

14. How will I know that I am not being under / over stimulated? If your scans indicate less than optimal or more than optimal response, then we will be able to reassess your medication use accordingly. This is precisely why you are being monitored locally before traveling to Cyprus. However, your medication dose is carefully identified in the light of your hormone levels, prior IVF treatment outcomes (if any), your age and your baseline ultrasound scan view, therefore, it is not likely that there will be an issue of under/over stimulation.

15. If I have a problem whilst in the UK who would I go to? An IVF specialist that we collaborate with.

16. Is the clinic registered with any regulatory body? Yes, local government accreditation is in place as well as ISO certification.

IVF Cost at Bourn Hall Clinic, Dubai, UAE

The response to my letter from the Bourn Hall Clinic in Dubair, UAE is shown below.

The questions I have regarding treatment at your clinic are:

1.    What is the current success rate for your clinic? (preferably by age as I know that the success rate will be much lower for somebody of my age)

Copy and paste from web site www.bournhall-clinic.ae

2.    How many cycles do you perform per year at the clinic?

Our clinic opened to patients in September 2012 so it is early days yet. Currently we are carrying out about 25 cycles per month

3.    What is the maximum age that you treat?

We do not have a formal age limit but will assess each case individually and give an opinion on the likelihood of success.  We believe strongly that patients need to be given honest and comprehensive information about treatment options.

4.    Are there any fertility conditions that you will not treat?

In the UAE, we are unable to offer treatment involving the use of donated sperm or eggs

5.    What is your embryo transfer policy? How many embryos will you replace at one time?

Our maximum limit is usually two embryos as there is a substantial amount of evidence showing that this gives the best live birth rate, as opposed to the best pregnancy rate. If more embryos are transferred, multiple pregnancy is more likely and this leads to a higher risk of miscarriage.

6.    What is the basic cost of the IVF treatment?

We offer a number of treatment packages but the basic cost would be AED28,000 without medication.

7.    What additional costs would / could be incurred?

Medication can add substantially to this, maybe AED5000-8000 depending on circumstances. Some patients may require certain tests done, such as hormone blood tests. We do offer a number of inclusive packages that can be tailored to individual needs.

8.    What happens to the costs if the cycle has to be abandoned?

If a cycle is abandoned before egg collection, the patient will only have to pay for the medication used.

9.    How long would I need to be in Dubai for?

This depends on the exact regime used but, in general, treatment can start with a period and be completed by about 3 weeks later.

10.  Who deals with the logistics of flights and accommodation?

Our administrative staff can assist with travel and accommodation requirements.

Our Administration

11.  How is the pre-treatment carried out?

Pre-treatment may not be necessary in  most cases. It is best if the patient can be seen at some point before treatment to check for major issues but this can be done locally with their regular physician.

12.  How do I get medication?

We will supply all medication needed.

13.  How will I be monitored?

We conduct regular ultrasound scans and blood tests throughout the treatment cycle, so several visits are required.

14.  How will I know that I am not being under / over stimulated?

This is the purpose of the monitoring, to ensure that optimal stimulation occurs.

15.  If I have a problem whilst in the UK who would I go to?

We do have a clinic in the UK, near Cambridge , but obviously this will be convenient for everyone, in which case a local gynaecologist can usually help. We are happy to liaise with them as needed.

16.  Is the clinic registered with any regulatory body?

As required, the clinic is registered with the Dubai health Authority and licensed for IVF treatment. This is the only regulatory requirement in the UAE.

I apologise for the long list, the more I look into having IVF treatment the more complex it seems to get!

I look forward to hearing from you.

IVF Cost at Fakih IVF, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Here is the information given to me on the cost of IVF, the procedure and the success rates from Fakih IVF in Dubai, United Arab Emitates. They have given good, comprehensive replies to the questions asked.

Hi Sue,

The answers to your queries are as follows:

The questions I have regarding treatment at your clinic are:

1. What is the current success rate for your clinic? (preferably by age as I know that the success rate will be much lower for somebody of my age) Our clinical success rates of both clinics in Dubai and Abu Dhabi (i.e. we can see the pregnancy by ultrasound) are updated on our Success Rates page by age group. Here’s the snapshot.
Patient age           Success Rate
<35                               63.4%
35-37                           59.2%
38-40                          43.3%
41-42                           32.0%
≥43                              12.5%

2. How many cycles do you perform per year at the clinic? We had done 780 cycles in Dubai in 2012 and growing steadily.

3. What is the maximum age that you treat? 45

4. Are there any fertility conditions that you will not treat? Women with no uterus, or women with no eggs.

5. What is your embryo transfer policy? How many embryos will you replace at one time? 1 or 2 or 3, depending on the case.

6. What is the basic cost of the IVF treatment? AED 30,000 inclusive of all consultations from Day 2/3 of the period, ultrasounds, hormone injections, egg retrieval, ICSI, embryo transfer, up till the 2nd pregnancy test.

7. What additional costs would / could be incurred? Maybe a semen analysis is required or maybe a vaginal swab is needed. Sometimes antibiotics are also prescribed.

8. What happens to the costs if the cycle has to be abandoned? We refund the balance of the treatment.

9. How long would I need to be in Dubai for? The treatment lasts for 3-4 weeks.

10. Who deals with the logistics of flights and accommodation? We have a page on our website to help international patients find a hotel. We don’t take care of flights, but we can issue a letter of invitation if it helps.

11. How is the pre-treatment carried out? Depending on the case, we sometimes start stimulation outside the UAE. Usually we do that for couples who prefer to remain in their country and who don’t have major fertility problems, or couples with a male infertility problem and the wife is healthy). All tests and stimulation will be liaised between our clinic and an obstetrician/gynecologist in their country. Also, some men who need to come to us for Micro-TESE operation and who send us their hormone results may need to take some supplements or medication to help them produce sperm so that when we perform the operation there is a higher chance of finding sperm.

12. How do I get medication? Through your doctor, and based on our recommended doses which are based on the results of blood tests and ultrasounds.

13. How will I be monitored? Through regular blood tests and ultrasounds.

14. How will I know that I am not being under / over stimulated? We closely monitor your hormone levels by regular blood tests and ultrasounds.

15. If I have a problem whilst in the UK who would I go to? You can get in touch with our Patient Advisor by email, or you can call us.

16. Is the clinic registered with any regulatory body? It is registered by the Ministry of Health and HAAD (Health Authority of Abu Dhabi) and soon by international bodies.

Let me know if you need any clarification for any of the above.

Kind regards,

Brand Communications Director

Gender Selection Cyprus for Affordable Family Balancing

by IVFCyprus.net | October 22, 2012

Advanced technology and scientific research gave rise to many assisted reproductive treatments which have allowed many patients to not only have a baby, but can also choose its gender otherwise known as baby sex selection.

Although it is a highly controversial practice, gender selection is employed to help couples choose the sex of their baby for personal, religious and/or social reasons.

With the use of PGD (pre-implantation genetic diagnosis), also known as embryo screening, gender selection technique can prevent the inheritance of genetic diseases. It is designed to reduce the possibility of transmitting sex-linked genetic diseases to an offspring for at risk couples.

There are limited locations in the world where gender selection is considered legal, however on the small island of Cyprus it is legal and practiced through methods of PGD in Cyprus, and MicroSort in Cyprus. Many couples that undergo gender selection in Cyprus wish to experience the joy of raising a child of desired sex.

Cyprus is the island of choice for many BritishArabic, and Turkish patients seeking gender selection. Many couples build their hopes for a desired baby gender and on the island of Cyprus they achieve their dreams with world-class fertility clinics with astounding track record of pregnancy success.

The island is home to Europe’s most cutting-edge IVF clinics serving patients from the UK and the rest of Europe with unsurpassed level of expertise.

As a pioneering destination for infertility treatments, Cyprus welcomes throngs of couples to take advantage of the unprecedented pregnancy success rates, egg donation programs Cyprus and affordable quality fertility care.

North Cyprus IVF Clinic is the only fertility clinic in Europe to provide MicroSort gender selection technique.  The clinic provides peace of mind care with an airport pick up, hotel accommodations, and a dedicated English speaking patient care facilitator.

MicroSort North Cyprus

Gender Selection is offered in a few alternative methods at North Cyprus IVF:

1) MicroSort IUI for Gender Selection

This treatment method is very much like conventional IUI apart from the fact that male partner’s sperm is sorted into X and Y bearing cells through the MicroSort procedure. The MicroSorted sperm is then used for artificial insemination where it is injected intra-uterine.

MicroSort for gender selection with IUI treatment has 90% accuracy for gender selection for a girl and 75% accuracy for gender selection for a boy. Regarding success rates, MicroSort IUI has similar success rates to IUI treatment success rates, which is about 20-25% for women younger than 35 years of age, and about 8-10% for women older than 35 years of age. It should be kept in mind that MicroSort IUI may need several attempts before pregnancy can be achieved.

2) MicroSort IVF for Gender Selection

This treatment option is more like regular IVF-ICSI treatment. The male partner’s sperm is sorted into X and Y bearing cells for gender selection, just like in the IUI option. However, as opposed to injecting the sorted sperm trans-uterine, female partner’s eggs are taken out and the sperm is injected directly into the nucleus of the egg for fertilization. In other words, IVF+ICSI does not let nature take its course, but rather, does the job in the lab environment.

IVF treatment requires that the female partner uses stimulation medication in order to produce a higher count and quality of eggs in a given menstrual cycle. It is through this medication protocol that we are able to obtain a higher count of eggs in order to increase your chances of pregnancy.

Accuracy for gender selection is still around 75% for a boy and 90% for a girl. However, pregnancy rates are considerably higher than IUI since IVF procedures allow for multiple eggs to be fertilized and transferred back into the uterus.

3) IVF with PGD for Gender Selection

Alternatively, there is PGD which is a genetic testing procedure done once the embryos are created. It allows us to identify the gender with 99.9% accuracy as well as screening for most common genetic disorders, making sure your baby does not possess a serious genetic condition. This method is a bit more expensive compared to MicroSort IVF but is more accurate. Gender selection through PGD works just like conventional IVF, where eggs and sperm are fertilized in the laboratory environment. Then, embryos are placed in an incubator for optimal growth. Once the embryos reach the 8-cell growth stage (usually day 3 after fertilization), biopsy is performed where a single cell is retrieved from each embryo for diagnosis. This biopsy allows us to test for certain genetic conditions and determine the sex. Apart from the sex of the baby, we test chromosomes X, Y, 13, 18 and 21, which are the causes of almost 90% of all genetic-linked abnormalities. However, in this option, the specimen is used without MicroSort.

4) MicroSort IVF with PGD for Gender Selection

Combining MicroSort and PGD is the best gender selection method there is, and is only offered at our clinic in Northern Cyprus. This method combines the benefits of both MicroSort and PGD technologies in an optimal manner. MicroSorting makes sure that majority of the sperm is sorted into the cells that will produce appropriate gender. PGD will further provide increased accuracy for gender selection and provide a gender selection accuracy of 99.9% while also allowing us to screen your embryos for majority of genetic diseases. This option is best for patients above the age of 35 and those who have diminished ovarian reserves.

North Cyprus IVF Success Rates:

The below figures summarize the success rates for gender selection at North Cyprus IVF. It should be taken into account that success probability is based on test results and history of infertility.

Women aged between 21- 29:  84 percent

Women aged between 30-34: 64 percent

Women aged between 35-39: 58 percent

Women aged between 40-44: 16 percent

by IVFCyprus.net | October 19, 2012

An Island of hope and dreams holds untold success stories of young couples who’ve endured emotional journey’s to build a family and were blissfully rewarded with the gift of a child in Cyprus.

Infertility affects nearly 12 percent of couples that are of childbearing ages. For those who have experienced this heartache you know it’s a struggle that not only effects your body, but your life, your finances, and sometimes the relationship with your partner.

Seeking fertility treatment should not have to be costly nor complicated. With many IVF treatment options available in destinations like Cyprus, infertility patients can safely undergo an IVF procedure for an affordable price.

This has become an appealing option for British, Turkish, Arabic and European patients that seek in vitro fertilization and other fertility treatments like gender selection for family balancing and MicroSort for selecting the sex of the baby.http://www.ivfcyprus.net/microsort-cyprus

Many couples have walked down the path to parenthood along the calming coastlines of Cyprus and experienced a fulfilling and life-changing journey.

One of the most common causes of female infertility is the inability to ovulate.  Without ovulation, conception cannot happen naturally.

Symptoms of ovulation problems generally include an irregular cycle or an absence of menstruation. Fortunately, with the use of advanced fertility technology, Cyprus fertility clinics can make it possible with controlled ovarian stimulation.

If a couple cannot be treated by traditional fertility procedure such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), they may consider using donor eggs.

Donor eggs are just as it seems.  A young woman donates her healthy eggs in order for a deserving family to have a baby. Often the clinics maintain their own egg donor databases of young healthy women who have offered to donate their eggs.  The donors under go rigorous health examinations and screenings in order to quality as a donor.

For the clinic it’s important to have a variety of egg donors from different cultures, race, religions and physical appearance. Fertility doctors will help match prospective parents with high quality egg donors. They strive to make the process of selection an egg donor in Cyprus as easy and hassle-free as possible.

Egg donation in Cyprus allows an infertile woman to carry a pregnancy and give birth. Even though she is no the biological mother of the baby her male partner can donate his sperm so the baby has a biological connection to one parent.

Cyprus egg donation programs are designed for females with premature failure condition. Premature failure is an infertility issue in which menopause started at an earlier age than normal (typically before the age of 40).

There are a variety of other reasons for employing egg donation procedures, including low quality eggs caused by age; genetically transmitted diseases (STD) that could be passed on to the offspring; and previous history of failure with IVF.

Egg donation programs in Cyprus enjoy the highest pregnancy success rate of all fertility procedures. Women ages 21-29 with a 98% success rate with egg donation to women ages 35-39 with a 78% egg donation.

Fertility clinics in North Cyprus maintain the highest ethical standards and provide both intended parents and donors with professional, personalized and compassionate care.

While physical characteristics such as height, eye, hair color and IQ scores are important to many couples, IVF Cyprus clinics provide a sense of egg donor’s unique qualities in the egg donor profiles.

This psychographic information on egg donors is derived from screening interviews conducted by well-trained psychologists.

Patients traveling for egg donation in Cyprus have the peace of mind that administrative staff of IVF clinics in Nicosia will coordinate all the logistical details of egg donor selection including interviewing, matching, legal documenting and medical and psychological screening.

Cyprus is one of the most cost friendly destinations for egg donation offering patients multiple payment plans to facilitate financing the procedure. The lower cost of living, cheap overhead charges on the island gave rise to affordable fertility practice in Cyprus while sustaining world-class medical service.

IVF in Mexico Offers Substantial Cost Savings

by IVFinMexico.com | October 11th, 2012

Fertility treatments can be a costly wager for many couples but certainly a stake that has seen an increasing number of patients betting on in 2012. Today, a multitude of infertility treatment options are available at exclusive IVF clinics across the globe.

The exorbitant IVF cost which most couples endure is combating against attorney and agency fees, medical and insurance costs, and may include surrogacy fees.

During in vitro fertilization (IVF), sperm and eggs are taken from the partners, combined in the lab, and grown there for three to five days before being transferred into the woman’s uterus.

In vitro fertilization may be an option for patients with blocked fallopian tubes, diminished ovarian reserve, male-factor infertility, endometriosis, or unexplained infertility.

Infertility treatments are more successful and reachable than ever before, resultant in the major growth of patients seeking IVF in Mexico.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 6.1 million women in the United States have trouble getting or staying pregnant. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine lists the average cost of an IVF cycle alone in the US to be $12,400.

A compelling argument for IVF and Surrogacy costs today brings us to the compassionate tendencies of many IVF clinics and IVF specialists in Mexico.

Compassion for Childless Couples Raising Eyebrows

Mexico’s fertility tourism promotes the venture of an inexpensive and stress-free way to explore another country, relax, and involve your IVF journey to parenthood in high-quality IVF treatments and surrogacy options for less, when compared with US fertility treatment costs.

And with same-sex couples flirting with the idea of surrogacy arrangement more and more, the demand for IVF surrogacy options is growing abroad.

IREGA Cancun is offering an exclusive IVF Warranty— if your first attempt is unsuccessful; a second IVF attempt is provided free of cost. Backed by an elite and astounding IVF team IREGA Cancun is increasingly seeing patients due to this remarkable inspirational doing.

IREGA Cancun hopes their efforts not only reduce the stresses that an ineffective cycle can produce, but further lower the burden of costs.

Shrinking the Cost of IVF in Mexico

Traveling for IVF in Mexico allows couples to shrink the high costs of IVF treatment by more than 60%. Attributing factors to the lower costs when compared to the US and UK include lower infrastructure costs, wage costs, and costs of living in Mexico which ultimately drives down the towering cost of IVF treatments.

With low-cost, direct flights and inexpensive accommodations, many IVF patients find that fertility treatment in Mexico is a bet they can win.

Fertility clinics in Mexico are also lowering IVF costs by implicating IVF treatments such as egg donation and PGD.

Family is the overall motivation behind IVF clinics in Mexico as they are committed to providing you consistent quality care. Find your future today with IVFinMexico.com.

IVF Cost at Medicana International Hospital IVF Center – Istanbul, Turkey – Great Information

I have had a very thorough reply to my IVF Cost Letter from Medicana International Hospital IVF Center – Istanbul, Turkey. Their prices certainly seem reasonable.

The contact details for the clinic are:

Address: Beylikduzu Street No 3, Beylikduzu, Istanbul, Turkey

Phone: +90 212 867 79 18

Website: http://www.turkey-ivf.com

Here is their response:

The questions I have regarding treatment at your clinic are:

1.What is the current success rate for your clinic? (preferably by age as I know that the success rate will be much lower for somebody of my age)

Here are our cumulative pregnancy rates in the following format.

Woman’s Age Pregnancy test (B-hcg +) Clinical Pregnancy
30 or younger 65 % 52 %
30 – 35 57 % 44 %
35 – 40 40 % 32%
41 – 43 27 % 14%
43 – 45 11 % 6 %

 2. How many cycles do you perform per year at the clinic?

Between 900-1000 patients

3. What is the maximum age that you treat?

We do not accept patients older than 45 years of age for ivf treatment.

4. Are there any fertility conditions that you will not treat?

If  woman’s  FSH is higher  than 20 mIU/ml at day 3, or male  has been undergone micro TESE operation before and sperms not found, we do not start IVF treatment. Besides, we do not try tubal re-anastomosis operation in tubal blockage cases since our IVF success rates are quite high.

5. What is your embryo transfer policy? How many embryos will you replace at one time?

We do not transfer more than two embryos, since we believe that transferring more than two embryos only increases multiple pregnancy rate.  Also we offer to transfer only one good quality blastocyst in first trial to young patients (<35 years of age) , but it is the decision of the couple.

6. What is the basic cost of the IVF treatment?

Our Package Prices are as follows;

Option 1 £ 1500

IVF / ICSI  Package
Including all exams, ultrasound, blood tests
Assisted Hatching ( With Laser) Included
IMSI ( In severe male factor cases) Included

Freezing Excess Embryos ( With Vitrification )           £ 250

All cycle costs are package costs and include all the ultrasound scans, anaesthetic charges, doctor’s fees and post-op recovery where applicable.
At the time of egg collection, if there are no eggs or failed fertilisation, we refund £ 300 for cancellation of embryo  transfer.
Pregnancy scans are charged separately.
Medication costs are charged separately and can vary from patient to patient. Patients are requested to buy the drugs from the pharmacy themselves

Option 2 £ 2350

Option 1 + all drugs and medications until embryo transfer

Option 3 £ 3250

Option 2 +  freezing the extra embryos and also a 20 night accommodation in a flat and airport transfers. Flat is fully furnished and very near to our Hospital (in walking distance).

7. What additional costs would / could be incurred?

If you have embryo(s) frozen, the cost of storage after one year is 120  £ annually

 TESA  280 £

Sperm freezing 150 £

 Micro TESE 550 £

8. What happens to the costs if the cycle has to be abandoned?

If the stimulation protocol is cancelled due to failure of follicular growth, we charge only examinations and blood tests. If embryo transfer is cancelled due to fertilization failure or embryonic development  arrest, we refund £ 350 for cancellation of embryo transfer.

9. How long would I need to be in Turkey  for?

If we will start the treatment at second or third day of the mensturation, it will probably last in 15-20 days with the embryo transfer.

10. Who deals with the logistics of flights and accommodation?

You will arrange  the flight tickets yourself but we can pick you up from airport for transfer to Hotel. Also we can help you for accommodation (hotel or residence near to our Hospital)

Coordinator for patient relations in our IVF centre will help you.

11. How is the pre-treatment carried out?

You can send us the copies of all your medical records before you start.

For woman; fT4 (free thyroxine),TSH, Prolactine  levels are required and also HBSAg, Anti-HCV , Anti-HIV is required

For man: HBSAg, Anti-HCV , Anti-HIV, sperm analysis are required.

All the details of previous treatments will be helpful to understand the medical condition also.

 12. How do I get medication?

As we start the treatment we provide the drugs in the package program or you can buy from pharmacy yourself.

13. How will I be monitored?

We will start the treatment at second or third day of the mensturation. The treatment will begin with daily injections and after three days you will be controlled again by ultrasound and blood levels of hormones to adjust the drug dosage. In every other day, you should be examined again and at about 9th or 10th day of treatment, you will have the final injection and in 36 hours your eggs will be collected under general anaesthesia. After that, your embryo transfer will be performed between 2 – 5 days .

14. How will I know that I am not being under / over stimulated?

In ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome, you may feel swelling and discomfort in the abdomen, sometimes nausea and vomiting, bowel problems and changes in urine colour and consistency. We will observe your stimulation closely to prevent hyperstimulation. If your ovaries are polycyctic type ( that means more sensitive for hyperstimulation), you should have daily monitoring with ultrasound and blood levels of oestradiol.

Understimulation is easily diagnosed by ultrasound and blood levels and managed by modulating the drug dosage.

15. If I have a problem whilst in the UK who would I go to?

Couples are free to return UK next day after embryo transfer. Sometimes problems like ectopic pregnancy, missed abortion, threatened abortion can occur just as after spontaneous pregnancy. In these circumstances, your local consultant will help you. We are always willing to give medical advice and direct you by phone or mail.

16. Is the clinic registered with any regulatory body?

Our IVF centre is located in Medicana International Hospitals Group which is one of the largest and pioneer of private Hospitals in Turkey. It is approved by our Ministry of Health and also Our Hospital is accredited by ISO and JCI (Joint Commission International) regularly. IVF Costs, Trends and New Technologies in 2012 by VisitandCare.com

As society evolves, the typical family structure changes, technology advances, and laws flex, more people than ever are turning to infertility treatments as a means to start a family.

Contrary to popular belief, not everyone is blessed with the ability to quickly and easily conceive a child. This is becoming more and more obvious in recent years.

For some, health problems leading to male and female infertility factors contribute to a couple’s conception troubles.

Many others put off the pursuit of parenthood until their late 30s and early 40s, where the chances of a successful pregnancy dwindle down to almost zero.

On the other hand, singles and same-sex couples are also utilizing assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures, along with surrogacy, to have the children they’ve always dreamed of.

Infertility treatments are more accessible (and successful) than ever before, which means it’s likely that this very specialized area of health care will experience major growth in the coming years particularly in the locations of Mexico, Spain, Cyprus, Thailand, and Colombia.

For 2012 in particular, whether monumental or controversial, three very important infertility trends are sure to steal the spotlight:

Money-Saving IVF Test: A new infertility test that has the potential to save parents money and disappointment by dramatically increasing the chances of having a healthy baby through in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Researchers at Oxford University say this new test is revolutionary because of its low price, increased level of safety and overall effectiveness.

The test works by analyzing ‘cloud’ cells (also known as cumulous cells) that provide nutrients to the egg. The cumulous cells, normally thrown out in a standard IVF procedure, would be tested for health and vitality, which could help infertility specialists to choose only the very best eggs for the IVF procedure, without harming a single one.

When compared to current egg and embryo tests, including pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), analyzing cumulous cells will minimize risks, cut costs by at least 50 percent, and greatly increase the odds of achieving a successful pregnancy in the first IVF attempt.

Although the study was quite small, Oxford researchers hope to begin clinical trials in the summer. If the test works as well as scientists believe, it should be available worldwide at the start of next year.

Sperm Donation Hesitation: 2011 brought a lot of controversy to the infertility community, especially in regards to sperm donation. While this practice is a popular solution for single women, lesbian couples and those struggling with male infertility factors, there has been a backlash at sperm banks for allowing donors to father too many children.

Last year, one man in the United States discovered that he had 150 children and other stories around the world revealed similar cases, which sparked a lot of concern over laws and regulations related to donated sperm and how they affect potential offspring and their families.

While it may seem simple, sperm donation is a complex issue for the donors and receiving families. This year, advocates will be working towards a more solid set of laws and regulations to protect all parties involved, as donor sperm is still extremely valuable for patients who need it to conceive.

Career-Driven Surrogacy: Over the past five years, gestational surrogacy has spiked in popularity all over the world. The Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology reported 260 surrogate births in 2006; this number raised to about 1,000 in 2009, and considering these figures only represent the United States, there’s no doubt surrogacy is a booming industry.

In the past, couples used surrogacy as a last resort, following multiple miscarriages and failed IVF attempts. Today, however, surrogacy is open to all types of families, including singles and same-sex couples. Countries like the India, Thailand, Ukraine, Georgia have capitalized on this growing demand for gestational surrogacy options, and now welcome thousands of internationally based clients each year.

The newest surrogacy trend for 2012 involves career women. Many with high-powered jobs are putting off pregnancy, and instead choosing to build their careers during their most fertile years.

One anonymous female CEO told The Grindstone, “People, not just women, in senior level roles, are living their lives at very high paces. They work more hours, lack sleep, travel a lot and struggle to keep a routine. You would find ways to manage this, but the added impact of pregnancy would change their lives. There are ways to slow down but for some women, and it’s not because they aren’t maternal, but I think it is that they don’t desire the whole pregnancy thing. I see it as slowing me down. It is not that they are choosing to put career first, but putting the focus first. And when you are presented with an option like surrogacy, it seems viable. It kind of makes sense.”

While some may find this new trend quite controversial, for today’s modern family, it’s not really about the pregnancy, but the end result that is most important. The route to parenthood is different for everyone, and gestational surrogacy is just one option.

The CEO added, ““Society has shifted and new roles and technology allow for women to have this choice. Does that make it wrong? Because you can, should you? Why not?”

From higher IVF success rates to sperm donor and surrogacy controversy, it looks like 2012 will be an eventful year for the infertility community. If you are trying to conceive, whether naturally or with the help of infertility treatments, VisitandCare.com wishes you the very best of luck and baby dust on your journey towards parenthood!
