IVF Cost at Baheti Hospital & Centre for Reproductive Healthcare, India – great information!

Three days after emailing my letter I received a very good response from Dr. Neela Baheti of Baheti Hospital & Centre for Reproductive Healthcare. It is so nice when people directly address the questions that you ask and Dr. Baheti has done that in her reply.

The cost of the basic IVF is very good, however this does not include the medication and I do know that medication can add quite a significant amount to the overall cost of a cycle, so be aware of this when you compare the cost here to some of the other clinics that have replied and included the medication in their price.

The website at www.baheti-ivf.com is definitely worth a look at, in particular check out their Patient Education tab, there is some good information – a calander for a typical IVF cycle treatment and of interest to me was the information on how age affects fertility. Their email address is bahetihospital@gmail.com.

Another one for my shortlist!

Thanks for your interest in our clinic.

We found your website extremely useful from the patient’s point of view. You have taken lot of pains to compile all that information. We appreciate your noble efforts.

Your observation is absolutely correct about India’s cost effective treatment. In recent years India has emerged as a preferred medical tourism hub. It stands especially true for Assisted Reproduction facilities.

Our clinic is situated in the beautiful city of Jaipur – popularly known as Pink City. Being a tourist place it is very well connected with railways, surface and aerial route of transport. Further, proximity from New Delhi makes it even more convenient for international visitors.

Details of our centre, facilities and activities can be viewed on our website www.baheti-ivf.com

Here we try to answer your questions point wise :

1. The success rate at our centre for the age group below 35 is in the range of 25-30 %. To answer your question specifically, we have done a limited number of cycles after the age of 40 yrs. Mostly using a young egg donor. The success rate has been 40 % for such women.

2. Ours is reproductive healthcare unit and not only an IVF clinic. We carry out around 100-120 cycles per year alongwith other activities.

3. We do offer IVF treatment to any healthy women who is 40 +  as long as she is willing to take donated eggs from a healthy donor. We encourage relatives/ friends as egg donor.

4. Patients with fibroid which may interfere with the implantation and patients with adenomyosis are two major categories that we avoid for IVF even if they are willing to use donated eggs.

5. Below the age 35, we like to transfer 2 good blastocysts but for elderly ladies we may transfer upto 4 embryos.

6 & 7. The basic cost of one cycle of IVF at our clinic is $ 1400. ICSI costs additional $ 350. This includes blastocyst culture but the cost of medicines is extra as actual.

8. We have a refund policy  – If a patient’s treatment is abandoned on medical /technical grounds, the remaining amount is refunded deducing the actual expenses incurred up to the date of decision.

To answer Q 9, 11 and 13, we would like to know your clinical details including :

                a. Hormonal Status

                b. Husband’s recent Semen profile

                c. Details of any previous fertility treatment, ovarian stimulation response etc.

If you have poor ovarian reserve we would recommend egg donation for you. However, if hormonal status is OK, we could try a suitable stimulation protocol for you.

10. We can help in arranging accommodation and flight booking etc. Rajasthan Tourism Department has good facilities if one wishes to club his/her stay during treatment with tourism. Please visit www.rajasthantourism.gov.in and www.rtdc.in

15. The best person to guide you will be your GP.

16. There’s no regulatory body existing in India as yet. However, we are registered with the Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction (ISAR) and the National ART Registry of India (NARI).

Hope this helps.

Best,

Dr Sanjay Shukla has pointed out a couple of important points when it comes to IVF.

    His points are:

Attempting IUI for more than 3-4 cycles is a waste of time and money. At the most 6 cycles should be tried and if they all fail, the couple should be counselled properly about the “unexplained” infertility (if everything is normal ) and the importance of timely attempting IVF.

With age the ovarian reserve does go on exhausting and thus, the chances of her conceiving decreases significantly with your own eggs.

Hence the importance of time and proper doctor selection in infertility treatment.

So please, let’s share our information and experiences on clinics and doctors to help to make this easier for all of us.

Best of luck to you all!
    Sue

    Dear Dr. Neela Baheti,

Why do you not accept those with cases of adenomyosis? How does adenomyosis affect implantation? I heard from other doctors that it does not really affect in IVF procedure.
I would greatly appreciate your response to this. Thank you:-)

If yes what is the treatment procidure. If no how can we go for IVF and what shall be approx cost. pls. reply the details.

  13. Comment by Abenaa Bailey

My name is Abenaa Bailey I live in Houston, TX here in the US. I am 40 years old and trying to have a baby. I would like to use my own egg. Will that be possible?

    Sincerely
    Abenaa Bailey.

  14. Comment by Dr Sanjay Shukla

    Dear Ms Bailey,

It is very much possible to conceive with your own eggs. However, you need to get a full work-up done by your doctor (Reproductive Endocrinologist as you say in the US). He/She will analyze your hormones, ovarian reserve and few other tests and then will decide whether you could try with your own eggs or not.

If your hormones are within normal range, if you are not obese, menstruating regularly and have no previous IVF failure, There is no harm trying with your own eggs.

    Good luck.

I would like to know what the price would be for ivf with doner egg, please

  17. Comment by rhonda

Please, can you tell me how much you charge for IVF with donor egg. Both tubes are blocked but everything else is okay.

  18. Comment by Dr Sanjay Shukla

    Dear Lela,

Thanks for your interest in our clinic.

Our clinic doesn’t offer IVF with professional donor’s eggs. Usually, our patients bring their own donor with them who are young ( <35 yrs), healthy and have proven fertility. Therefore, the cost of the procedure remains the same as mentioned on this website.

    Hope this helps !

    best,

    Dr Sanjay Shukla

    Dear Sir/Madam,
We (32 yrs and 29 yrs) are married since 4 years. My wife is yet to conceive.
Initially, we tried naturally for nearly 2 years. After that my wife had a total of 12 ovulatory cycles (successful), confirmed by follicular studies (all induced with clomiphene, letrazole and hcg injections).

During this period we did battery of investigations which revealed:

    1) On 10/09/2010:
    LH – 16.58, FSH – 15.84, PROLACTIN – 48.89, TSH – 2.73.

    2) On 01/12/2010:
    LH – 9.54, FSH – 9.50, PROLACTIN – 2.01.

    3) On 28/12/2010:
    LH – 15.35, FSH – 13.04, PROLACTIN – 0.75.

All these investigations were on day-2 of the cycle. My wife was prescribed cabgolin after 10/09/2010; she took it 0.25mg once in a week for almost 2 months. Now, we have discontinued cabgolin.

    Thyroid profile – normal.
    Hemogram – normal.
    FBS/PPBS – normal.

    HSG is normal.

My semen analysis is normal. (Done 5 times over this period)

Some other investigations were done 3 months back for my wife:

    # Ovarian Antibody: Negative.
    # Inhibin-B : 61.60 pg/ml.
    # Anti-mullerian hormone: 2.11 ng/ml.
    # Prolactin : 32.25
    # FSH : 13.27
    #LH : 14.53

Our doctor advised laparoscopy for my wife. It was done last month, which was totally normal.

Hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy reports are normal as well.

We kindly request you to give us positive feedback and opinion. Awaiting your reply,

    Thanking you,
    Rahul
