IVF Cost at Victory ART Laboratory, Malaysia – great reply!
Although it took a long time – over three weeks – to get a response to my letter requesting the IVF cost, IVF success rate and IVF procedure at Victory ART Laboratory in Malaysia, when it came it was a great response. I have added the approximate US$ costs in red. This has not gone on my shortlist because of the amount of time that would be needed in Malaysia – I just wish I could afford to be away for that long! The website address can be found in the response.
Dear Sue
First of all, please kindly accept my sincere apologies for my late reply.
Thank you so much for your inquiries and I will try my best to answer your list of questions. Please kindly see my reply in bold:

Thank you.

Chief Embryologist
Victory ART Laboratory Malaysia
- What is the current success rate for your clinic? (preferably by age as I know that the success rate will be much lower for somebody of my age) – Since second year of our operation, we have been maintaining a consistant overall clinical pregnancy rate per embryo transfer at above 40% (2005 - 47.9%, 2006 – 47.5%, 2007 – 44.4%, 2008 (Jan – Sept) – 59.2%). Clincial pregnancy per embryo transfer based on age group: < 26 years old - 57.1%, 26-30 years old: 75.0%, 31-35 years old: 47.3%, 36-40 years old: 34.4%, > 40 years old: 14.3%
- How many cycles do you perform per year at the clinic? - Approximately 70 cases
- What is the maximum age that you treat? - We do not set age limit for our patient
- Are there any fertility conditions that you will not treat? - No
- What is your embryo transfer policy? - It is based on embryo quality and patient’s age & infertility background How many embryos will you replace at one time? - Usually 3 grade-I embryos but for patients > 40 years old or embryo quality is less satisfactory, we may consider transfer more than 3 embryos.
- What is the basic cost of the IVF treatment? - Laboratory fees (including OPU, ICSI, ET, embryo freezing and initial 6 months frozen embryo maintenance) - RM 7000 nett (approx. US$1,995), Clinician fees (OPU & ET) – RM 2500 nett (approx. US$713), Hormonal drugs cost & monitorings during follicular stimulation – RM 6000 – 8000 (approx. US$1,710 – US$2,280) (depending on the amount or dosage of hormonal drugs required).
- What additional costs would / could be incurred? - For younger patients who are in risk of OHSS or patients with OHSS, there could be additional cost on post-ET monitorings and albumin infusions.
- What happens to the costs if the cycle has to be abandoned? - There will be partial refunds depending on the stage of the cycle when it has to be abandoned.
- How long would I need to be in Malaysia for? - 30 – 35 days, provided you give us all the medication / infertility evaluations you and your husband had gone through prior to the commencement of your IVF/ICSI cycle.
- Who deals with the logistics of flights and accommodation? - Our clinic will assist you on this matter.
- How is the pre-treatment carried out? - It involves trans-vaginal scannings and blood tests.
- How do I get medication? - Our doctor will provide all needed medications to you.
- How will I be monitored? - Our doctor will monitor your follicular development via trans-vaginal scan during hormonal stimulations.
- How will I know that I am not being under / over stimulated? - Our doctor will determine the hormonal dosage based on the infertility evaluations done by your doctor. The dosage prescribed is to stimulate your ovaries to produce app 10 follicles. However, as our body may react differently towards the hormonal dosage prescribed, there is always a risk of under / over-stimulation. We will only know the outcome of your response when you have your first TV scan on the 5th day of hormonal injections.
- If I have a problem whilst in the UK who would I go to? - Any infertility clinics or specialists should be able to assist you.
- Is the clinic registered with any regulatory body? - Malaysia has yet to have a regulatory body that governs IVF centres in this country.

This is a great site…do you have any other website, the one you have listed and i went to doesn’t have any contact information.
thanks!
TAmmy
I’ve sent this place an email..thanks sue for the email address…no word yet…been about 5 days
Hi Just got a response back from this clinic…here’s some additional information
What is your policy on embryo transfer: how many at one time (by age of mother)
We determine the number of embryos for transfer based on: embryo quality, gamete quality, patient’s age and patient’s ART / medical history.
We transfer at least 2 Grade-I embryos.
For patient < 30 years old, we transfer maximum 3 embryos.
For patient 35 years old, we may transfer > 4 embryos, if necessary or depending on circumstances.
What is policy or ability to store embryos
Victory Malaysia has the facility for embryo freezing and storage. We only freeze Grade I-III embryos, with high preference of Grade I-II. Our post-thawed embryo survival rate is maintaining at > 90%. Our laboratory achieved 63% FET clinicial pregnancy per embryo transfer rate in 2008.
In 2008, we have moved from slow freezing technique to victrification.
I’m living in Singapore how do I meet or work with your clinic
You have two options:
1. You are a full patient of Dr Tan, meaning you will go through pre-ART treament investigation with Dr Tan and later on, the clinical part of ART treatment (ie. hormonal injections, follicular monitoring, ultrasound scanning etc) with Dr Tan.
2. You are a semi-referral patient of Dr Tan, meaning we will refer you to our associate doctor in Singapore (to ease the burden of you travelling to and back between JB-Singapore when you are going through the clinical part of ART treatment). Our associate doctor in Singapore will then perform all the investigation, hormonal injections, follicular monitoring etc on you in Singapore. You will only need to come to JB for the laboratory part (ie. egg retrieval – fertilization – embryo culture – embryo transfer – embryo freezing) towards the later stage.
We can make arrangement for you for above options.
Where are you located
We are located at 54 Jalan Harimau Tarum, Century Garden, Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. With a light traffic load at the causeway, our laboraotry is only 40 minutes away from Orchard Road, Singapore.
What are your costs for total IVF including storage and ICIS
Our laboratory cost is RM 7000 net which is inclusive of OT charges, egg retrieval, IVF / ICSI (no cost difference), embryo transfer, embryo freezing and initial 6 months of frozen embryo storage fees.
RM 7000 is exclusive of all the clinical parts, ie. pre-treatment investigations, hormonal injections / drug fees, follicular monitoring fees, clinical fees on perfoming egg retrieval and embryo transfer.
The total cost which is inclusive of the clinical and laboratory part is in the range of RM 12000 – 15000. There is a possibility that it will be beyond RM 15000 shall high dose of hormonal injections is required.
I hope I have answered all your questions to your satisfaction. Shall I fail to do such, or you wish to make further enquiry, please do not hesitate to contact me by email or phone calls at 607 331 3223.
The other VERY interesting thing is that this clinic has DIRECT TIES to Singapore…specifically to the fertility clinic i”m seeing in Singapore (that charges 15K-18K sing or about $10k-$12k US)
I found this: http://www.victoryivf.com/ourTeamMalay.htm
this is their Team. Dr. Jothi Kumar is one of the partners of at OG clinic where my RE is ..Dr. Foong. there are only 3 guys on this team. My friends have seen Dr. Jothi Kumar and loved him. so he helped to start and train this clinic and will manage you in Singapore.
These guys are younger and only 70-80 IVF ccles a year but are also cheaper…though probably not if you are being monitored in Singapore.
again its about $120sing to take a taxi to JB..very close and easy 40-60 minutes
I’m going to check out this clinic too.
here’s another email respones the chief embryologist sent to me:
All the information I gave in my previously email are of Victory Malaysia Only, as I assume you are only interested in our laboratory in Malaysia and NOT our Hong Kong or Manila laboratories. Please kindly pardon me if I am wrong.
Yes, we do have a website, http://www.victoryivf.com. However we are facing some technical problem with it at the moment and we are in the midst of rectifing it. I will inform you once it is back to normal mode. Please kindly accept our sincere apologies on this matter.
Our associate Singapore doctor is Dr Jothi Kumar from OG Partners, Gleneagles Medical Centre. He is a very experienced doctor with more than 20 years experience in subfertility and ART treatment.
It is good and fair that you checked out other ART laboratories in Johor Bahru Malaysia. Hence with the information you gathered, you will have a better picture which laboratory will be able to give the service and result you expected.
Just to share with you, I was the Chief Embryologist of TMC (previously known as Damansara Fertility Centre) until Dec 2003 before I decided to join Victory Group, a reknown regional ART laboratories group.
Only into its second year of operation, Victory Malaysia has already successfully achieved HIGH success rates (> 44%) and since then we have been successfully maintaining our results that is comparable to any top ART laboratories in other parts of the world. We have also received numorous positive feedbacks from patients and associate doctors for the TOP quality laboratory service we provide.
In Victory Group, we believe in TOP quality service and HIGH success rates! That is what we do and deliver in all our four ART laboratories in this region!
Thank you.

Rachel
Hi anyone
I just went to Victoria ART today for 930am appt. Took me 40 minutes door to door from Singapore in a taxi. Very easy.
Very interesting this concept. I’m going to use them and start in April after I return from the US.
Basically Victoria ART is a stand alone indpendent open IVF LAB. They have no RE reproductive endos on staff. Any qualified screened doctor (screened by Victoria LAB) can use them. They do have their 2 prefered doctors. One a malay doctor and the other a Chinese Malaysian. I met wtih Dr. Tan, the Chinese Malaysian Doctor.
I first arrived at the IVF clinic. Got the tour and met the staff. All was very nice, clean and modern. Liked it much better than TMC clinic in Malaysia which is just down the street. All very nice and had a ncie feel.
then we walked to Dr. TAn’s office just a few doors down. HIs office is typical of JB, run down. but staff are nice. Dr. TAn is nice and got his FRCOG in the UK.
I’ve had this reoccuring Pelvic Inflamation diease PID that is probably related to my D&C and ashermans’ tied to my miscarriage which is probably why I can’t get pregnant. anyway the infection was back. he listen and gave me the proper treatment which is IV antibotic with 2 other types of antibotics.
anyway he was nice direct and to the point. I liked him.
So I”ll be going there. They use all injection except for the progesterone which is the gel. I’ll be doign the long protocol.
Cost is about $4500+US depending on how much drugs you need based on your response.
the Lab does ICIS only for IVF. There security is as high in terms of labelign but its fine.
they do storage of any embroyos as well.
I’ll report back once I start
HI All,
I just wanted to report that my awesome embryologist brought down my burselin drugs the suppression drugs from JB to me in Singapore..so nice!
I start my IVF treatment on April 8th..got my drugs have to wait to day 21 on the cycle …I’ll be reporting back to let you know how it goes here…so far so good!
Hi everyone,
I’ve know done 10 days of suppression. Today april 19th and I saw my dr. on teh 18th to get blood test and then today the 19th to get my results and my drugs. Overal very good experience. he has a new office. bought and remodeled. he owns the building. very high tech LCD tvs to watch and then in his office, you have a LCD tv monitor to watch the ultrasounds. I have to say i really like the doctor. I start stims on Monday and will see him again next saturday the 25th
Estimated egg retrival either may 1st or 2nd..will know more once I start the stims
HI for all those interested in IVF in Malaysia,
I’ll be going in for egg retrieval May 2nd and embryo transfer may 4th (hopefully)
That process will cost me $2500 RINGITT for doctors fees and 7000 Ringett for Embryologist clinic.
I have 10-12 follicles that are all developing. I was on gonal-f and then for 3 days he added luveris, which helps with maturation.
Overall, i have been so pleased with my doctor and his clinic. his new office is really nice. The flat screen so you can watch the U/s is cool. he also has a 4d Ultrasound machine.
I really like his personality…just the right mix of joviality and seriousness. He’s been very good so far and the process has been awesome.
now I’m getting a bit uncomfortable with the follicles…but otherwise the shots are no biggie
Tonight I do MY HCG shot, which is subcutaneous…so its cool i can do myself no worries.
His protocol then has progesterin suppositories once a day and I come in about every 3 days for U/S and injections.
Wish me luck!
Tammy,
Thank you again for the fantastic update, this must be so exciting for you. I wish you so much luck and so pleased you have found such a fabulous doctor.
Best of luck, please do keep us informed,
Sue
Hi Ho all, had my eggs retrieved today. It was okay. Hubby said the room for the men to get sperm was ok/crappy. Small tv dark, and a dead cockroach in the back LOL (if you live in SE asia you’ll know the dead cockroach is not a big deal other than being gross LOL)
Anyway, my turn came and the got me ready. everyone was very professional. The anthesti (can’t spell) was very nice and chatty.
My doctor, I didn’t see him, I was passed out before i even knew it. But he can me pain meds and I slept for 2 1/2 hours after the surgery! couldn’t believe it. A bit sore and tired.
My embryologist emailed me this report on my eggs…so now I’m nervous gulp:
Hope you are feeling okay now, after the OPU this morning.
Dear Tammy
In total we retrieved 11 eggs this morning. Out of the 11 eggs, 8 was injected just now whereas the another 3 was not injected due to their immaturity.
I am culturing these 3 eggs. If it turns to mature eggs tomorrow morning, I will then do the injection for them. If it is otherwise (still immature tomorrow morning), we will have no choice but to abandon them. However, I should let you know that the prognosis of late injected eggs is usually not very good, meaning these eggs will either fail to be fertilized or poor embryo quality at later stage.
As for the 8 injected eggs, the quality is a mixture of good and poor. Few of them are of good quality but we do have a few with rather poor egg quality.
I will keep you posted of the fertilization outcome of these 8 injected eggs and the outcome of the another 3 eggs.
Have a good rest!
Regards
Rachel
Hi all,
just wanted to update, of my 8 eggs ICISed, 6 fertilized normally. Yesterday I had 3 eggs that were immature and they were cultured adn matured!! so today they were injected with sperm and tomorrow I’ll find out if they fertilized.
so far so good. Just sore after the egg retreival but feelign better fast.
tomorrow I go in at 1130am. start drinking water to get a full bladder. then around 1230pm my doctor and rachel, the embryologist will tell me the status of my embryos, we’ll load however many.
then I have to lay in the clinic for 2 hours before I can go home. They’ll catheter me to let the urine out (yikes)
so far so very good. Lots of great email communication with my embryologist
Tammy,
It is so interesting to hear exactly what you are going through and how it makes you feel – this is what we need when we’re are looking at having IVF.
All the best of luck for tomorrow, I have everything crossed for you.
Sue
Hello all, well technically I’m pregnant
with 3 embryos…now the long 2 week wait to see if this is potentially a 9 month condition.
) I was advised my IVF friends to only drink 8 oz…glad I did that…my bladder filled up and then at noon found out my doctor was going to be late…he ended up being 1 hour late…so lot of bladding holding.
I arrived at Victoria ART at 1130am. I brought my own liquid (good thing I don’t think they had any for me
but I have to say Rachel (embryologist) was awesome, she kept scanning my uterus/bladder and would let me pee to keep the right size of bladder…that helped tremendously.
I was pleased with the results of the embryos as well.
I didn’t have any to freeze, but I transfered3
1- 5 cell Quality 1/2
1 4 cell quality 1
1 3 cell quality 2
she gave me about a 40% chance and said my lining was fantastic- would of been higher of course if I had all Quality I embryos…but I’m really pleased given my age. I didn’t have any left for freezing but I wasn’t really expecting to.
While waiting in the OR room for hte doctor they allowed me to have my IPOD to listen too so that helped to pass the time.
the proceedure was painless, but uncomfortable due to the bladder being full. The doctor came with his nurse and they went ahead. I was able to arrange to have my husband in the room with me for the transfer which was really nice. I also saw the embryos going in on the U/S screen so that was really cool.
Afterwards, I held my pee for another hour and laid in the OR room, then they let me pee, and transfered me to recovery for another hour. I never moved or sat up.
Probably the only suprise was how many people were in teh room, the doctor his nurse, the Victoria ART nurse , and 2 embryologist…Normally you are passed out so you have no clue…everyone was very professional and pleasant.
afterwards, in recovery, It was nice because they set up the space so my husband could work on his computer (laptop). (i had asked earlier if this was possible)
then Rachel provided us with a report of hte eggs, embryos and sperm analysis.
I see my doctor on Wednesday for U/S scan and if no OHSS I’ll get a HCG shot. I see him every 2 days for the next 2 weeks to be monitored.
I’m very pleased with everything so far. Victoria ART and my doctor DR. TAn …I’ll of course be even happier if one of these embryos turns into a viable pregnancy
but Im very happy. the pricing and everything has been as they stated…
so far give them 5 stars…
Hi…. I am very happy that there is a site like this where IVF experience is shared!!!! Thank you Tammny for sharing your experience with victoria lab!!
I am looking for an ivf centre in Singapore or JB to have my treatment done. Tammy’s experience with Victoria lab sounds very promising. But somehow I cannot find victoria lab in the internet. May I have victoria lab’s website (if there is one) and their address? Many thanks
Tammy,
Congratulations! Here’s hoping for the best.
Sue

To Nerissa,
ART lab website can be a bit tricky.
The head of the lab is on vacation now (Rachel) so she won’t get your email.
If you really need info fast, (are you singapore?)
I would recommend SMSing her and giving her my name.
or if you want to contact me, I’ll send you her personal email address…but she’s out for 2 weeks…so you won’t hear anything.
I live in Singapore and was looking at Signapore….but its US pricing I was quoted $15-18K and honestly I don’t think they can delivery the results based on those US pricing. Plus I find that Singapore Doctors are quite arrogant and don’t ahve the customer service that Thailand, Malaysia and other countries have.
Most Singapore doctors will try and scare you say “ohhh you have to be careful for quality or no regualtions” but honestly, IVF isn’t really “regulated” anywhere, even the US
in Singapore, all the regulation is that you have to be married and no HIV…but there is no other controls or regulation.
I’ve been very happy. If you want to discuss with me off line I’d be happy to chat.
you can go to my website
http://www.babysleepfairy.com and send me an email there…just letting me about you and we can email
PS I’ve been in Singapore for 5 years and have been dealing extensively for 2 1/2 with a lot of hte “top” expat doctors..not so impressed…Dr. Tan in malaysia was the first one who actually listen to me and fixed my pelvic Inflamatory diease.
Update, I went to see Dr. Tan today for abdominal scan to check for fluid (OHSS) and I had none so I had the HCG injection. he gave 1500ml I believe. I go back again on Saturday. His appts. are like SUPER FAST. I never have to wait more than 5 min and I’m in and out.
I’m 4 days past egg retrieval (counts as day 0)
In the morning I’ve been inserting progesterone gel in you know where. He does this..which is nice..no shots…the clinc TMC JB does Progesterone in oil shots..those are nasty intra muscular shots
so far so good, today, i’m feeling a bit sick and sore, dr. tan said they want me to have a bit of “fluid” as they have better sucess that way. Since the HCG shot I feel sick..not sure if connected
today I went to the bathroom and had bleeding! OMG I was really upset. CAlled Dr. Tan and he said it was probably the progesterone suppository tubes going in to far and irriatating my cervic. I sms rachel who is on vacation and she called me back. she said I’m not out…but i’ve been laying on the sofa all.
good response I fell from them
Oh Tammy, I have my fingers so crossed for you. Just keep taking it easy and think of everything positive.
All the very, very best,
Sue
Tammy,
Are you still in singaore or you at home? How long have you had to stay there? I will pray for you that everything turns out. How long did you have to stay on bed rest after the transplant? Good luck and God bless.
Hi Amber,
I’m an American living in Singapore. I’e been in Singapore for 5 years…so i’m still here
I must say that the 2 week wait is the worst part of the whole IVF process..it has nothing to do with victoria art or dr. Tan…it just sucks. I’m quite bloated, I look about 4 months pregnant and its quite uncomfortable. Then you feel like crap, can’t exericse or do much of anything and you just sit here wondering wondering wondering if the damn process worked…(not to mention all the hormones make so you can tell anything)
I cannot wait for my beta on Monday may 18th. tomorrow I see the doctor, I’m going to press him to see if I can find out early or sometihng…
Hi people,
here’s a youtube video I made of injecting myself with the supression drug. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFX6F9UrOwc
I wanted to show my friends because too many videos I saw were of women screaming as the stuck it in. Honestly, the needle is so thin and short and if you let the alcohol dry and stick in quite it really doesn’t hurt. it take a very short time and is no biggie…don’t let the needles scary you.
Fortunately my doctor doesn’t do Progesterone in oil (Thank go that’s a huge intramusclar shot and the medicine hurts- i’ve been told…repeatedly)
Hi all,
here’s a video I made today on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xfpqm4f53WU
I’m 13 days past egg retrieval with moderate OHSs (this is desired by my doctor, he said he has better results) I get HCG shots every 3rd day.
You can see the swelling
Tammy
Sorry you’re feeling so uncomfortable Tammy – got my fingers crossed for you.
Your videos are so informative, I’m looking forward to the next one!
All the best
Sue xx
Hi ho,
well came back from JB. Saw dr. Tan again today. he had another C-section so I had to wait 30 minutes, but was hte first person in. Yeah
basically he said “wow you have a lot of fluid” and I was like “dude I don’t need an U/S to tell me that.” fortunately he’s got a good sense of humour and laughs a lot.
I was begging him to tell me if he could tell if I was pregnant (I know that he can’t, but hell the suspense is kililng me)
I asked him about the HCG shot, because I hate the swelling. he basically said if I don’t get the shot then in a 2-3 days if I’m not pregnant I’ll get my period, if I am pregnant I stay bloated…
soooooo I consented and he gave me another shot.
Monday I’m going for a blood test in singapore. I need a level of 80 HCG or higher to be pregnant. I’ll call him with the results and take it from there
well…I went to a clinic in Singapore, Thomson and gave blood. Fortunately this clinic said they’ll have the results back to me in about 2 hours or so…thank goodness the waiting is really really hard…i’ve been an emotional wreck since last night. I’ve had some more red spotting so I’m not sure if my period is coming.
Will post after I get my results
OMG! IT’S POSITIVE! I’M PREGNANT! IT WORKED! I got my blood test results back. 352! I only needed 80 to show i was pregnant…the doctor said the higher the better.
I’m absolutely shocked stunned overwhelmed! I really didn’t think it would work, spent the night crying…I guess hte hormones.
I’m going to call my doctor now. He said I’ll need to take shots through the first trimester to help support the pregnancy.
Now I just need to get through the next 12 weeks…i”m still at risk for miscarriage due to my age and chromosomal abnormalities- that’s what started me on this whole journey.
My son said he wants 3! Yikes..let’s hope not. I’ll find out when my HCG is over a 1000 how many I’m having…then you can see them on the U/S
Yeah Victoria ART, Rachel and Dr. Tan!
Just spoke to Dr. Tan, he recommened that I see a Dr. in singapore to get my pregnancy support shots.
He told me I had 2 choices, suppositories or shots 2x/week.
I’m leaning towards the shots as the suppositories are hassle…though those intramuscular shots are HUGE so we’ll see…
Wow! Congrats Tammy! That’s truly wonderful.
went to the Singaporean Doctor today. HOLYCOW!!! the costs of the medicines are ASTRONOMICAL in singapore, even after I factor in the cost of my taxi to JB. I was charged $791 Singapore dollars for 2 weeks of Crinone (progesterone gel supossitories) and progesterone tablets. I called Dr. Tan’s office and for same stuff it’s only $300Singpore…my taxi is $120 singapore to JB. so still like half the cost! plus I like Tan better. so i’m going to continue to see Tan for the next appt.
I’m so upset I bought the meds here in Singapore. I didn’t think hte meds would be soooo much more.
Singapore medicine is becoming insanely expensive
i am so happy for you congrats
Tammy, that is absolutely fantastic news I am sooooo thrilled for you!
Sue xxx
I’ve had some bleeding yesterday, called and went in to See Dr. Tan today. yeah! we saw a big sac! I’m 5 weeks 3 days. still way to early to breath a sigh of relief, but we have one sac in there!! I’m going to be adding progesterone in oil shots now too.
Tammy,
We haven’t heard from you for a while, how’s it all going? I hope all is well.
Take care,
Sue
well back again…not sure this pregnancy will have a happy end. yesterday i had my NT scan (its done between 11-13 weeks to evaluate risk of downs and other chromosomal problems) The results were horrible and it looks incredible incredible bad for this pregnancy. In addition I’ve just learned I’ve been sensitized for RH- so I have RH diease
…i’m supposed to do a CVS which would confirm conclusively what chromosomal problems this baby has…such a huge disappointment
Oh Tammy, I am so so sorry, you must be devastated.
Our thoughts are with you, do let us know how things go.
Sue xxxxx
Hi Tammy .. i am still pray for your pregnancy end with a good news . I really didnt know about the procedure and all the technical term in your post … but as a husband for 8 years marriage with no kid , i go through your post , can feel how excited you after the process..
keep updating
thanks
HI all,
thanks for your support. unfortunately I’m no longer pregnant as of last friday. we are absolutely heartbroken. thanks again for htis site. I highly recommend victoria art and dr. Tan
Hai Tammy,
never give-up! My prayers will always be with you. Thank you very much with all your updates. It will be very usefull for me as I’m planning to do the IVF by end of this year. I just came back to see a gynae doctor who recommended me to do it at Victory ART. The place is not familiar for me so at the moment I’m not pretty sure. But by looking at your journal, it did increase my confidence to do ivf at Vicotry ART. Fyi, i’m in Sabah, which gonna take me 2 1/2 hrs flight to JB. Currently i have bilateral hydrosalpinx which being advised by the doctor to be remove before I can proceed with the ivf, besides losing some weights
. Well, let’s keep on praying that one FINE day, all our wishes can be fullfil…..
TAKE CARE
Hi, this is my 1st time checking on this website, to be brief, I have a question on the cost mentioned above. Is the cost shown for 1 cycle of the treatment or
Hi Leng,
The costs given in the reply to my letter are for one cycle of IVF.
Best of luck,
Sue
Hi Tammy,
I am so sorry that you are no longer pregnant, there are not really any words to say. We are so grateful for your input here and keeping us informed of your journey, it has been so incredibly enlightening. I just hope that one day your dream will come true.
All the very best Tammy,
Sue
Hi Thanks sue,
Dr. Tan said to wait 3 months and the local dr who did the D&C said wait 2normal cycles before trying again. so about the same, assuming I don’t scar up from teh D &C I should be able to try again in Nov 2009 and I’ll be going to Dr. Tan ART clinic again.
Tammy,
I’m so pleased to hear that you are going to be trying again, I wish you all the luck in the world. Please keep us informed I know there are a lot of people following your journey.
All the best,
Sue
I am 37 years old. Currently I am having endometriosis with size of 9.45cm x 6.03cm at my left ovaries and 4.18cm x 3.45cm at right ovaries.
Can I can still undergoing for IVF or not?
Dear TT
In regards to your condition, it is BEST to have the cysts removed before you undergo IVF treatment. If not the cysts may affect your follicular response towards all the hormonal stimulations.
As you are currently 37 years old, my advise is to have your cysts removal ASAP and start your IVF treatment as soon as you have recovered from the cyst removal procedure / operation.
Take care!
Warm regards

Will the operation for removal of the cysts will spoil my ovarian and reduced my fertility? As being informed that the size of my cysts can’t undergo for laparospic…
How soon should I wait after the cysts removal and start the IVF treatment?
Dear TT
As your cysts are rather large, most likely you will not be able to remove it via laparoscopic surgery. There is a possibility that your ovaries may lose some functions after cyst removal. However, most likely you will not be able to start your IVF treatment anyway with the presence of the two big cysts.
It is best that you consult a clinician regarding your condition as well as what options you have, when can you start IVF treatment after cyst removal etc.

Rachel
Dear dr.Rachel
I’m just doing IUI on sunday in your clinic, and waiting the result for 2 or 3 weeks.
can i do activity like usually or must bedrest, how many percentage my chance?May i do ML after IUI?(this is 2nd IUI i do,1st in Indonesia)
My partner and I have been trying for our first baby for over 4 years now and have yet to be successful. We have undergone several rounds of IVF and each time the embryo was rejected by my body. I have tried several other alternative remedies such as the miracleofpregnancy.com which was useful but did not work for us. A friend of ours whom is in a similar position has tried the Pregnancy Miracle which has worked for them on the first attempt, we are really happy for them both as they too have been trying for nearly as long as ourselves. Has anyone else ever tried this or is it just coincidence do you think?
Hi Rachel, I have recently read an article regarding embryo screening which can check for chromosome abnormalities at :-
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1221345/IVF-test-trebles-chance-having-baby-removes-Downs-risk-say-scientists.html
Pls comment on this screening and whether it is available yet here in Malaysia and /or at Victory.
I’ve just turned 38 years old and attempted IVF ICSI 3 yrs ago which didn’t end in a pregnancy. My husband has grave reservations about our trying again at my age.
To Tammy, my heart goes out to you and I thank you for sharing your updates online here.
Thanks.
Mary
Dear Mary
I am sorry to hear about your unsuccessful IVF attempt.
I logged into the website link you mentioned. Based on the article, this is a new test with promising results. However they didnt mention in detail what kind of test it is and I suspect it is still at its preliminary phase.
I am afraid such test is not available at Victory. I am doubtful if it is available in Malaysia.

Rachel
have report from my doctor said
; the abnormalityfound on HyCoSy in case of the infertility is rightand left fallopian tubalblockage.the blockage be cleared with laparoscopy.(lap)or ivf recommended:.
Dear Ruun
The information you stated in your message is not very clear. I would think it is best that you consult your doctor what is your chances of conception naturally after laparoscopy to correct your blocked tubes.
I wish you the best of luck!

Rachel
I have had a comment from Tammy. Unfortunately for some reason we are having difficulties in Tammy being able to post a comment herself, which is something I am working to sort out as her input is always so valuable. For the time being I will post the comments for her. This is what she has to say:
Hi all,
i’m doing my second attempt of IVF/ICIS at Victoria ART with Dr. Tan and Rachel as the head embryologist. I just got my embryos on Sunday and have started the 2 ww. My experience the second time around mirrors the first time and I am so far happy with the team.
This time I got only 10 follis which resulted in 9 eggs, only 8 were mature. in the end only 5 fertilized, which was good considering this time around the egg quality was poor, I had no good eggs. I was incredible nervous on sunday (2 day transfer) to know if I had any survivors…and amazingly this time all 5 had survived. I had even better quality embryos or whatever this time compared to last time. Rachel gave me 60-70% chance of success…go figure, poor eggs, good embryos! Thank goodness
Victoria ART hired some new staff nurses, the new staff are very nice, warm friendly and considerate. Makes the experience much nicer.
Tomorrow I start my HCG shots.
By thursday or friday will be when these babies implant. Last round I had implantation bleeding…never had it with my natural pregnancy…i hope so badly I get it this time or else I’ll be really depressed.
I HATE the 2ww it is such a mind game, so much is riding on something you have no control over or can do anything about
Tammy Fontana
Best of luck Tammy, we have our fingers crossed for you. Please keep us posted.
All the best,
Sue
Thanks sue for posting, my experience is good and if you do consider to go JB you can always stay in Singapore which is much nicer than JB
Thanks Tammy, glad to see that I eventually managed to sort out what was blocking you from posting! We look forward to many more of your informative and valuable posts.
Best of luck!
Sue
I have to say that my 2nd attempt at IVF (fresh round) is so much different than my first attempt. I feel great. Mild bloating/swelling, I feel so good its freaking me out!
I broke down and emailed my embryologist because last time it worked and I was so bloated with OHSs from the get go and that round “worked” and now this round is so “easy” and “comfortable’ that I was convinced I didn’t have a short.
The great thing is my embryologist reponded and basically said that OHSS is not a sign that it works and that they work hard to not have OHSs…so that gave me hope
the 2nd week of the 2ww is grueling, its all so mental…only 7 more days until i test
well today is Thursday, normally i’d get an HCG shot today but dr. tan’s office is closed so I’m doing it tomorrow. This round is so different, i should say I feel so different. my abdomin is getting more swollen (fluid) but not like before. I honestly have no idea if I am pregnant..how can one tell anyway with all the hornmones. I call my singapore clinic and they can do same day results Beta hcg blood tests, so I should be finding out this sunday – unless Dr. Tan says to wait til monday to do the HCG shot on friday
Tammy,
Best of luck for Sunday / Monday – we have our fingers crossed for you.

sigh, it didn’t work. I tested on Sunday jan 31 and the HCG came back at 38…my dr. told me if I wasn’t pregnant it’d be around 40-50…but I was told to wait and re-test in 3 days just in case…my period didn’t come so I was hopefully, tested again today and the HCG was only 11 so falling and definitely without a doubt not pregnant.
Very disappointing, but given what happened last time would rather not conceive a baby with problems. Not sure what we’ll do…i need to return to the US for my studies for about 6 months and my husband and son will stay in Singapore…sigh…what can one do but try…
Oh Tammy, that is so disappointing, our thoughts are with you.
Good luck with your studies, and let’s hope it will be third time lucky when you return to Singapore!
All the best, keep the dream alive,
Sue xxxxxxxx
