IVF Cost at TMC Fertility Centre, Malaysia

Below is the response that I received to my letter about the IVF cost, IVF success rate and IVF process at the TMC Fertility Centre in Malaysia. A very quick response – received the same day that I emailed the letter to them.

The web address for the clinic is http://www.tmcfertility.com/

I received a further email from TMC Fertility Centre in Malaysia in September 2010 providing updated statistics and pricing information, which is what is shown below:

We are pleased to provide you the following information in helping you to have a better planning shall you consider undergo fertility treatments at our medical centre:

1. Ideal timing of visit to Malaysia

As far as possible we should see the couple between 21st to 23rd day of the cycle (the first day of the cycle is the first day of a proper period). During this visit, the couple undergoes a full assessment and subsequently commencement of treatment. The husband would also need to undergo a semen analysis for which he should abstain between 3 – 5 days prior.

2. IVF/ICSI treatment cycle

Treatment involves a series of daily injections for 4 ½ weeks to 5 weeks and 2 to 3 clinic visits. You will need to be seen every 3 to 5 days until egg collection and subsequently embryo transfer 2 to 3 days later. If you need PGS/PGD, this will be done 3 – 5 days (blastocyst) after egg collection. Excess embryos if available will be frozen. The entire treatment takes approximately 32 days (IVF / ICSI only) or 36 days (IVF + PGS). If you need PGS/PGD, you should be seen at the Kota Damansara Centre

3. Hospital Facilities

Our hospital offers comprehensive fertility care management. All fertility procedures are performed as day case, ie. no hospital admissions are necessary. However, if you require accommodation / lodging, airport transfer we are happy to help you arrange.

There is also long stay apartments at the cost of Rm600-800 per week. These can be found on AirBNB. Below are a few examples.

https://goo.gl/R7Xkaa

4. The cost of treatment is as follows :-

Initial consultation (scans, semen analysis, blood tests) – RM 850 – RM1,100

IVF/ ICSI (incl of drugs, lab charges, procedures) – RM18000 – RM20,000 +per cycle

IVF & PGS (incl of drugs, lab charges, procedures) – RM30,000+ per cycle

5. The latest published overall pregnancy rate is currently at 66%, as presented at the 5th Congress of the Asia Pacific Initiative of Reproduction (ASPIRE), Brisbane, Australia

We prefer if you can have the entire treatment with us to ensure consistency and high success rates, but if you wish, you can have part of the treatment with your own fertility specialist and come back to us for egg collection and transfer. You can log into our fertility website: www.tmcfertility.com for more information about our fertility services and programs. Our fertility centre has been consistently achieving high IVF success rate since we started 20 years ago. We are the largest fertility centre in Malaysia. We look forward to be of assistance.

    Hi all,
    Just to update.
Last week was like going through hell for both my wife and I….Sadly, everything has ended and we lost the battle….

As per our last posting, my wife was tested positive with a twins after the embryo transfer at TMC. We are blissfully into our week 20 when suddenly, one of the twins waterbag burst (for no reason at all). Although the twins heart beat are regular and beating normally, the bursted waterbag has cause infection. The blood test shows signs of infection and the doctor recommend immediate abortion, otherwise my wife life will also be at risk. We didn’t believe the doctor (felt doctors can be wrong and hoped for a miracle. We demanded for a blood re-test next morning but by 12am that same night, my wife started having fever as high as 38.7C and pain in the womb. We had no choice but make the painful decision to abort. Immediately, i witness the signing of the authorisation letter and the nurse gave the pills that would kill the babies. If that’snot bad enough, the nurse later asked “Oh, by the way, how do you intend to deal with the fetus?”
    “huh? Deal what?
” the body of your babies….. Do you want the hospital to take care of it or you want to settle this on your own?”

Suddenly, the reality hit us. A few days ago we are just planning what to name our babies, now we may have to plan a funeral?

Everything was so unbelievable. It’s like a dream turned into a nighmare. I can’t believe this is happening to us.

The next 3 hours after that was like (as mentioned above) going thru hell. My wife was in such great pain….the way she struggle, tossing and turning in bed uncontrollably. She was even begging me to save her and i was so helpless gripping her by the bed side. I kept calling for the nurse but they kept assuring me everything was normal. At the peak of her pain (about 4am), she scream something has came out. i looked over and saw the fetus…the tiny head and in the reddish body. The stupid nurse was still assuring me everything was normal until i told her the fetus has already came out, then they start to rush into the room. Idiots!
After cleaning up the bloody mess, the nurse then show me the fetus, “it a girl….ok? …and casually dumped it into a bag and wheel it off. My heart just broke and wept within

It was peace afterthat till an hour later, the next fetus also ‘flow out’ by herself. This time round less painful. Again the nurse was called to clean up the bloody messy outside as well as inside the womb, otheriwse will cause bleeding.

The dust settled after that and my wife was discharged the next day. The image of the fetus will continue to hunt us forever as we wept uncontrollably.

My emotions was like going thru a roller coster…Initially i was sadden to know the baby in the burst waterbag would unlikely to survive but comforted myself the OTHER baby would be safe. I was wrong when i learn not only both babies must die, otherwise wife will be at risk too. Now we are griefted that 2 innocent life has been lost. Although it was no fault of anyone but we do feel very deeply responsible for the 2 innocent lives.

We had hoped for a miracle but none showed up this time….Don’t understand why my wife had to get pregnant and then losses it 5 months later.

If only the fetus was into 8 months, both babies might have survived in ICUs.

If only one of the baby had died of heart failure (instead of burts water bag), the other baby coud have survived.

There’s so many ‘what-ifs’, so many if-onlys” so many regrets, so many questions, so many things we don’t understand. It’s like floating us up to the clouds and then dropped us….going thru 1 big round for nothing…it’s like a joke.

Sorry that i posted such negative event here.

I am Dr. Surinder’s patient. Just completed 1st fresh ivf. Is a BFN 🙁 . Knew the result on 06 June. 1 day after Waiting BB posted the bad news. 🙁 Will perform Frozen embryo transfer since we still have 2 backup embryos before deciding the next fresh cycle. Was initially thinking to get more advices and information from Waiting BB on what has been done differently the 2nd time and if it was a FET or 2nd fresh ivf.

Sad to hear about your news – Waiting BB. I had miscarriaged once before during my 1st normal pregnancy and it takes me years to recover with tears (and not fully recover yet). You need to be strong and give your best support to your wife. Life moves on. Other ways to recover faster: Back to work and daily activities, talk to family members. Try not to release your sadness in front of your wife. May best wishes to you.

Happy mum to be – not sure if you have considered on FET before since after your 1st fail cycle? You have any frozen embryo?

Norsyam – Were you in bed all the time during the 2wk waiting period? Not even doing any house work? Just wonder how can I increase my success rate the 2nd time. Perhaps you have some good advices. All the best for your pregnancy.

I put 3 embryos but only 1 survice…now I already 26week ++…can feel baby moving and kicking…wish u luck…pray to our god…just remember…we are following god’s ways…the right way…our turn will come…I can wait for 13 year…so, I think everyone can do so…

    Sir,

I am an Indian male of 51 years age, I have already a daughter of 21 years, I need a son for continuing my family, my wife is 47 years of age, we both need a Son (A Male child in our family very badly!!) is this possible through your IVF Center in Malaysia?

You may also be wondering as to why am I choosing to come to Malaysia instead of in India, well the answer is quite simple, India does have IVF Centers, but the main problem in India is it prohibits legally to acquire male or female child as such, in the past there has been some incidences where people aborted child in relation to its sex, this is the chief reason why I want to come to Malaysia and get myself a male child delivered through IVF.

Please tell me whether this is possible or not at the earliest so that we can prepare ourselves to come to Malaysia to get a son through IVF.

I personally expeact to acquire a positive reply from your side soon, please send me a positive reply to my personal email, which is bs21828@gmail.com as soon as possible.

Thanks and awaiting for your earliest reply soon, I remain,

    Sincerely,
    S. K. Basrur

I can get pregnant easily, but if I want to get pregnant with twins and selected gender, what is the costs?

  29. Nowadays many people believe is really hard to obtain pregnant over 30 and also more so you if you’re over 40. The fact is we hear all the time on the TV and within the news about ladies in their 50’s as well as later that have a infant and you have to ask oneself, how are they doing that? The truth from the matter is it is not hard as you have been led to believe and taking a handful of simple steps and looking after yourself you may get pregnant over 40 as well.

Hi everyone!!at last got place to express my ivf journey…happy to know others experience here…happy or sad ending..thats whats life all about…im now 37, married for 3 years with no child.Early this year,i’ve been seriously thinking of having a child, went to see gyne and did the HSG.It was confirmed that my tube was blocked!!Without losing hope,i try IUI at the government hospital in Serdang. Was given I week leave…unluckily, the result was negative!Im sure what was actually the reason as i decided to procede with IVF.Yess…final decision though we are financally tight…After a minor surgery to remove the polyps,i at last started my ivf last month. Now,im at the stage of monitoring the eggs and still on the puregon and orgalutran injections.tomorrow will be another scan before the eggs retrieval stage…Really hope everything will be fine. After reading some of the stories here,i feel so scared..sad..and mix feeling…pls pray for me…tq.

Congrat for all successful ivf patient. Enjoy your parenthood – happy sleepless nights!

indeed TMC team are very very good in reproductive medicine and technique, from what i saw from their website, their success rate for IVF (around 60%)is so high and they are amongst the highest rate in the south east asia!

Dr Surinder is a miracle, i strongly recommend him! he is humorous and explained everything to us, he is not those 3 minutes doctor!

BTW, TMC’s IVF is RM 15k+- per cycle, another 15k +- for PGD, you can identify your embryo’s gender through PGD! but mainly its for screening for genetic disease for your embryo

    to Frankie,
just log on to their website and ask, they have a form for enquiries, they reply quite fast.

    CY
